What is Edot supporter status?

Edot supporter status is an honor which we may bestow upon linked web sites as our way of saying 'thanks' for having made a donation some time in the last 365 days.  Links with Edot supporter status enjoy preferential listing in our Link Directory as well as an icon which identifies their status.

Edot supporter status is not a "service" we provide, and should not be looked at as such.  Additionally, Edot supporter status should not be interpreted as an endorsement for the linked web site's products, services, or content.

Having Edot supporter status does not convey any privileges or afford any special treatment to the linked web site or to its representative member(s).  We strive to offer equal treatment to all web site representatives, regardless of their supporter status. 

Why do we need donations?

Because of the spiritual nature of this site's focus, and because we try to offer a level playing field to all linked websites, we do not sell advertising space.  Therefore this site generates no revenue.

This site requires a domain name, webserver space, and licenses to several commercial scripts.  The yearly operating expenses add up to several hundreds of dollars per year, which must be paid for out of pocket, hopefully with the help of generous donors.

We have a Paypal link directly to our web hosting account in such a way that donated funds (less Paypal fees) can only be applied to Edot's operating expenses.  This is like giving us a gift certificate as opposed to cash-- you can be sure that your donation (less Paypal fees) will be entirely applied to our operating expenses, and not my baseball card collection.

How does one donate funds?

We occassionally decline donations from entities whom we feel our readership may find objectionable.  For this reason, even if you have donated in the past, please contact us prior to making a donation. 

You may use the "Contact Us" link in the navigation bar to let us know you are interested in making a donation.  Somewhere in your message, include the web site you represent, your username (if you are a registered member), and an email to which we can reply to your message. 

We'll respond within several days, either with our decision to decline your donation, or else with instructions on how to proceed with the donation.

How much to donate?

The amount you choose to donate is entirely up to your discretion, and there is no minimum or maximum amount that we accept.  We would benefit greatly if each donation was in the amount of US$30 or greater, but we sincerely appreciate all donations, regardless of size.  Remember that your donation enables and inspires us to take the site further!
