Page 1 of 2 Having smoked Salvia divinorum a good many times, I was quite sure that it had an effect on human body temperature. Several minutes after smoking the sacrament, I would always feel so warm and cozy...I would even sweat at times. I have discussed this with others...some saying that they felt terribly hot. Others however, said that they always felt cooler after smoking S.d. In the depths of most S.d. adventures, I have had feelings of being really small and being really huge.
Definitely an uncomfortable experience, however with S.d., I was able to easier stay with this vision and reflect upon it as it was happening. This is the same sort of hallucinations I had as a child with a fever.
Discussing this within a dream and S.d. “expert”, my thoughts were reinforced...this set of hallucinations is common of childhood fever. This led me to think that perhaps the hallucinatory action of S.d. is caused from a temporary sudden increase in body temperature, thus inducing fever hallucinations (hence the title of this work). This was an odd thought, and could actually make people more weary of the lovely S.d., in fear of some sort of neural damage or the like. In love with Salvia divinorum, and always searching to understand her more and more, I purchased a digital thermometer, a new corn cob pipe, and some S.d. leaf from a friend. Behold.

For those wondering what is going on with the trip compared to what is going on with the temperature, I can give you these basic explanations. Well first off, what you actually feel like (hot or cold) doesn't seem to matter, as after a said amount of time, body temperature begins to fall. Usually around 15-20 minutes after smoking S.d., the hallucinatory effects begin to wane.
