(Rev:)
Anyway...Do you have any information about the levels of DMT and 5-MeO in plants such as Desmanthus illinoensis or Mimosa hostilis? There seems to be some variability in those plants. Do you know of the “best” DMT containing plant?

(DM:)
Desmanthus illinoiensis...M. hostilis, all of these things have tryptamines, but you're right, there's lots of variation. Probably the best sources are A. columbrina, or some of the Australian Acacias...also Diplopterys cabrerana, is a rare and under-utilized DMT plant, and its excellent...

(Rev:)
Doesn't A. columbrina (seeds I presume) have high levels of 5-MeO and some Bufotenine?

(DM:)
No, no 5-MeO. Its mainly bufotenine. Which is kind of a mystery, because its incredibly strong, but bufotenine is supposed not to be active...'cause it doesn't penetrate the BB barrier...so goes the conventional wisdom

(Rev:)
Hmmm. I have smoked A. columbrina seeds with definite effect...different than pure 5-MeO definitely. Once, I got an intense instant depression--with no trip feelings. It lasted for about an hour...I felt terrible like I didn't want to live. So does A. columbrina contain DMT, then? (and other visual tryptamines?)

(DM:)
The one who's worked with it is Ott. He says, you grind up one seed. maybe roast it slightly first. Grind into a fine powder, and snort it. the effects are immediate and strong. He swears it works. Yes, some DMT and bufotenine

(Rev:) Hmmm...that shows the amounts of misinformation about such entheogens online...yowza! Moving on (if I may) to your current work at the Heffter Organization: On the Heffter.ORG web site, there is a mention that there are eight (8) other Salvia species that may hold sacred hallucinogenic elements...can you elaborate? I am dying for species names, as my Salvia divinorum perished from my inability to provide a sound living space and environment. (DM:)
Well, diterpenes similar in structure to Salvinorin are actually pretty widespread in nature. they occur in a number of other Salvia species, and even species outside that family...but they are similar in structure, not identical..nobody knows... Well, if you'll wait a minute, I'll give you a name...

(Rev:)
Sure thing...

(DM:)
OK, here some Salvias which contain the Salvinorin “backbone”...

S. rubescens, S. splendens, S. truxillensis, S. pseudococcinea If you get your hands on any of these, send me a few kgs...

(Rev:)
Are those as rare as Salvia divinorum?
