quid works - 29th October 2009, 02:00 PM

SWIM just dictated this to me......

"Since i have a large patch of plants growing in my garden now, I have plenty of leaf to experiment with.
Haven't tried salvia for 6 months, needed to remind myself of what goes on there. quidding hasnt been very strong before, so i also prepared half a dozen small hits of 35x extract, a method i've used before successsfully.
so I tried making a quid from 6 pairs ie 12 leaves, rehydrated partially, helped along with a swig of rum.

I lay down in the dark on the couch and put ear plugs in, and starting chomping on the large quid which quickly produced a bitter tasting foam that i swooshed around as much as i could without swallowing. i chomped hard on that stuff for what seemed like about 10 minutes, until i began to feel a hardening up of the angles and surfaces around me, like they were getting ready to move.
Pretty quickly, space was folding all around me, and i want sure where i was any more, or what was happening. i opened my eyes (i think) briefly and , in the dark, i could see the room had sort of turned inside out and there was a huge pair of hands kind of pulling the room, and me in half slowly. It was very powerful, and i was concerned i might get pulled through the wall, or window.
Also, by now, i was having trouble understanding what was in my mouth, or just what a mouth was, so on balance, i ended up spitting the quid out , which rolled past me and dissapeared somewhere. I remembered that i should have kept it in my mouth, but I was really moving into the space pretty strongly, and I think part of me just chickened out of keeping it in longer. so then i was thinking oh, it will finish now. but it seemed to keep getting stronger, despite the quid having only been in for maybe 20 minutes (hard to tell though)

At first I had a familiar but uneasy feeling of being in some kind of hospital, or examination place, as if something was wrong, or being fixed. i felt exposed. but it was the whole of reality that was in hospital. I looked up hospital, and it comes from the latin word for "host", and it was somewhere people (not necessarily sick, perhaps poor or travellers) would rest and be given healing herbs.
It was like my entire world turned into a surface that was made of all the people, ideas, and social interactions, and connections that i am part of. this surface was folding and turning around, as i moved through the layers of some kind of computation, in a larger process.
I was only a part of this process, and there was something else that was hosting it, like something unseen that was animating this 2 dimensional surface layer. Once i saw it, but it was like a ripple moving through the computation of people and thoughts, it was green and i saw its hands moving through, like the surface of a pond when someone walks through it.
It seemed like this 2 dimensional salvia surface was more fundamental than the 3D world we see, like this is some kind of hologram coming out of a surface or boundary of computation.
It feels shocking when you experience the surface layers, because it seems like that is all there is, and it feels like youre seeing behind the scenes of a simulation, and that none of it was ever real in any fundamental sense.
The whole experience seemed very concerned with the minutae of my daily interactions with people, my work, even finances, seemed to be rolling though this space. except that i didnt actually know who i was alot of the time. i was experiencing from the point of view of layers cutting through the entire process, somewhat localized around what i now understand to be me.
But, in the background is the wierd and spooky feeling that there is something moving all this stuff, something with an agenda beyond individual will. Some kind of super-organism thats evolving with us as its cells and organs. it seemed slightly ruthless, like it could just "recycle" any of us, if that was necessary.

I could pass the whole thing off as just a kind of turning the brain inside out kind of effect, if it wasnt for this feeling that something else is either controlling the entire show, or moving through it in some kind of shadow world, thats at a wierd angle to ours. I get glimpses of them, i don't know what they are. theyre often green though! I guess that just my brains way of understanding them, little green men....they are shy though, i don't break into an elf nest or anything

I sometimes had a feeling that the experience was somehow not particularly profound or revelationary, but as i came down i was surprised at just how far removed i was from "baseline", and how bizarre my experiences were. It was like at each transformation i somehow normalized my situation and assumed that not alot was happening, when in fact my ass and my elbow had been completely interchangeable for over an hour.

Anyway, I was pretty surprised how strong just 12 leaves are, it was as strong as some of my experiences with 35x, and lasted for about an hour after i spat the quid out (which got smeared all over my couch and floor)
I was completely unable to smoke any of the hits i had lined up, and didnt need them.
One downside was that I found it pretty hard to sleep that night, i felt over stimulated, and still had a residual wierdness that prevented me from passing out for many hours. I have had similar problems with the unmentionable herb, and mushrooms.
The only advantage to smoking versus quidding might be that it seems easier to remember the experiences if you are going in and out quickly in sequence, than if you go in once for an hour and a half. but then, you have longer to feel around without interruption with quidding, and its gentler somehow, less angular, more folding. just as strong though for sure."

Great post. Thanks for sharing.

SWIM will not be trying the quid method, due mostly to the long effects associated with it. SWIM has found that after an intense smoking experience, a loss of "centeredness" occurs throughout the next day, which is sometimes a good thing and sometimes a bad thing, depending on SWIM's mood.

As far as SWIM is concerned, one of the best things about smoking salvia is the brief duration of the actual experience.

Hi Kedabra, SWIM's preferred method became quidding ever since he tried it.

Same for SWIM, last time he quidded he couldn't sleep in the whole night due to the over stimulation and intensity of the experience. It is hard for him to describe in words what he perceived, as it wasn't so much a visual experience but rather more like a feeling, but he was kind of experiencing something like one of those hindu gods with thousands of limbs and faces.

He doesn't feel any inclination to try again but still feels a great respect for the plant.

Man, some things you said there just really, REALLY remind me of the experiences my Walrus was talking about. Although my Walrus has never quidded, he finds many of the things here extremely familiar. I bolded the things that I think my Walrus experienced too, and I put in parenthesis/bold italics little comments.

Pretty quickly, space was folding all around me, and i want sure where i was any more, or what was happening. i opened my eyes (i think) briefly and , in the dark, i could see the room had sort of turned inside out and there was a huge pair of hands kind of pulling the room, and me in half slowly. Also, by now, i was having trouble understanding what was in my mouth, or just what a mouth was, so on balance, i ended up spitting the quid out , which rolled past me and dissapeared somewhere. I remembered that i should have kept it in my mouth (held breath longer for Walrus), but I was really moving into the space pretty strongly, and I think part of me just chickened out of keeping it in longer. so then i was thinking oh, it will finish now. but it seemed to keep getting stronger, despite the quid having only been in for maybe 20 minutes (hard to tell though)

It was like my entire world turned into a surface that was made of all the people, ideas, and social interactions, and connections that i am part of (Part of just in the salvia realm? Because that's how it is for my Walrus, no people that my Walrus normally interacts with.). this surface was folding and turning around, as i moved through the layers of some kind of computation, in a larger process.
It seemed like this 2 dimensional salvia surface was more fundamental than the 3D world we see, like this is some kind of hologram coming out of a surface or boundary of computation.(My Walrus is always confused about dimensions, he never calls it 2 dimensional, it's usually 3.5 dimensional, but otherwise my walrus can relate)
It feels shocking when you experience the surface layers, because it seems like that is all there is, and it feels like youre seeing behind the scenes of a simulation, and that none of it was ever real in any fundamental sense.

I could pass the whole thing off as just a kind of turning the brain inside out kind of effect, if it wasnt for this feeling that something else is either controlling the entire show, or moving through it in some kind of shadow world, thats at a wierd angle to ours.(Yes, this part too) I get glimpses of them, i don't know what they are. theyre often green though! Man... Wow...

Never read anything that was so similar to my Walrus' experience!

Edit: Taking out the "Quote" part because everything is in italics there.

Wow. Cool report...I gotta munch some leaves someday.......hey nice Garden too!!!

Someone suggested that there may be some compounds which degrade so fast off green leaf, as it dries that other methods like smoking, or extracts... etc are of a different combo of compounds....Your thoughts on that Kedabra? thanx

I don't know.

but i will try with some fresh leaf and compare. partially rehydrated from dry is easier to fit in your mouth though...
