Simply out of curiosity, Whats the posts to star count?
IE: How many posts equals how many stars?

I dunno. A person can run up a lot of daft posts trying to hit a quota. Quality is definitely better than quantity.

Star ratings for mods is utterly pointless, seeing as it's automatically a 6-star rating, but it's true, mods do have to wade through a pretty big pile of dogshit here sometimes. Thanks for pointing that out

And that's why it's a system of precious little value. It doesn't give any more information than could simply be gleaned from your post count.

The original rating system was also interesting, except that it was abused (and easily abuse-able).

In a way, the rating system was like having your belly scratched (or kicked)... made you feel good (bad), without really meaning much about you.

It's occurred to me that an anonymous mail to a member, explaining what was bothering you about them, without having to identify yourself, might be a good system. Everyone can use some feedback, but not everybody can use a shit-storm in the abuse-pit. At least this way, if people could be anonymous, and their comments confidential, it would give some meaning to the whole idea of rating other members. In other words, it's meant as feedback and not humiliation.

I don't know if that can be done. I may never know.

Until then, we have stars. That mean nothing more than a degree of seniority, which is already there in the member title (moriquendi, eldari, etc) and in the post count.
