it depends on how you view poisonous ...
the ibotenic acid in both panther mushrooms and fly agarics can be a horrible thing to ingest... the mucimol isn't much better if you don't know what you are doing... however if used just right, it can be the best thing anyones ever used... for instance
This FOAF I know decided on friday night to use up the rest of his batch of dried amanita muscaria's, and he's had mixed experiences with them... he took about 15 dried caps with him, all approximately 3 inches across. they were all pretty much the same color, a golden yellow/orange with nice big tufts of white on top. he started out with just 1 cap and waited about an hour... then another and about 45 minutes later he was feeling pretty good... nothing too intense, but good enough to enjoy the night. then he had another and went outside for a smoke... it felt unbearably cold outside, and he wasn't a big fan of that, however it was almost 55 degrees outside which wasn't too bad usually. then he went back into the house to finish a movie he had started. as soon as he walked through the door, the sweat started pouring off his head... he at one more cap, which would typically put him right where he needed to be.
the sweat didn't stop, and the cold shivers and convulsions started in pretty strongly... it were as if he were laying on a slab of ice with snow for a blanket... absolutely frozen all around no matter how hard he tried... this lasted for about 4 hours, at which time this FOAF finally passed out..
this is the same report given when one panther mushrooms was ingested a few months back.. maybe its just too much for the un-trained user to ingest, or maybe there isn't enough experience... either way I would definitely consider this a poisoning
